Role Play, either in a one and one settings, or in a theatre type set up can be used for educational purposes. In South Africa, roving Role-Play Theatre productions have been utilised to achieve behaviour change for younger age -groups, learning to be more responsible.
About this clip: GTZ’s Youth Development through Football (YDF) invited hundreds of Learners from disadvantaged communities to watch a Theatre Play at South Africa’s State Theatre in Pretoria. For many of the kids it was there first visit to a theatre. Judging by the applause, it won’t be their last visit. The Play is based on real life events around a Blind Soccer Coach called Dumisane. The Play was tilted “GHOST” and was all about Soccer and problems facing the South African Youth in townships on a daily basis.
Camera13 was blessed to have met Dumisane on previous occasions, filming for Germany’s ARD and Qatar’s Aljazeera about his success story.
